One Story Can Hold So Much
The day two people met. A childhood home. Moving to a new country. Years spent working together. Some stories are familiar family favourites; others have never been properly recorded.
Story Capture gives one person, or two people with a shared memory, space to tell that story in their own words. A 30-minute planning conversation helps choose the focus and identify useful prompts, followed by a relaxed, 45-minute filmed conversation.
Thoughtful questions help draw out the people, places and details behind the memory. There is no script to learn or performance to give, and no need to fit an entire life into one sitting.
You receive a lightly edited video that preserves the storyteller’s voice, expressions and way of remembering, ready for your family to watch, share and revisit.
What your Story Capture includes:
A Planning Conversation
A 30-minute session to choose the story or life chapter, discuss who will take part and identify photographs, objects or questions that could help bring the memories to the surface.
A Gently Guided Filmed Conversation
A 45-minute recording with one or two people. Thoughtful prompts give the conversation direction while leaving room for natural recollections, shared laughter and unexpected details.
Professional Video and Sound Recording
Capture the voice, expressions and exchanges that a written account cannot convey, with attention to clear sound and a comfortable recording environment.
A Lightly Edited Video
The recording is prepared for comfortable viewing, with sound levels balanced and obvious interruptions tidied up. The conversation retains its natural character and the storyteller’s meaning.
A Digital Keepsake to Keep and Share
Your finished video is delivered privately as a downloadable file, ready to watch together, share with relatives and preserve as part of your family archive.
Your Story Capture Package
45-min filmed conversation, 30-min planning session
$495
Your package focuses on one meaningful story, shared memory or chapter of life, told by one person or two people together. The planning session helps shape the conversation around what you want to preserve, including any photographs or objects you would like to use as prompts.
The price includes planning, professional video and sound recording, light editing and private digital delivery. Light editing tidies the recording while preserving the natural conversation; it does not include the more extensive storytelling and archive integration of a documentary film.
Recording can take place at the Breadcrumbs studio in Adelaide or at a suitable location agreed beforehand. Any travel or location costs are explained and approved before booking.
A Conversation, Not a Performance
You do not need a script, a polished story or a perfect memory for dates. Gentle questions help you find a starting point and follow the details that matter, at a pace that feels comfortable.
A photograph, familiar object or another person’s recollection can help bring a memory into focus. There is room for laughter, reflection and different versions of a shared experience.
You choose what to discuss. You can pause, take a break, skip a question or leave a subject alone. The aim is to preserve a recognisable person telling their story in their own way.
Your Questions, Answered
-
No. The planning conversation helps identify the memory or life chapter you want to preserve and a few useful starting points. There is no script to learn and no need to tell everything in chronological order.
Photographs, letters or familiar objects can help prompt memories, but they are not essential.
-
Yes. The package includes a filmed conversation with one person or two people sharing a story. Partners, siblings, friends or other relatives can help bring out details through their different recollections.
The planning session helps establish a focus that gives both people room to contribute.
-
The package includes a 45-minute recording session, rather than a guaranteed 45-minute finished film.
The delivered video’s length depends on the conversation and the material removed during light editing, such as pauses for technical adjustments or obvious interruptions.
-
Light editing prepares the recording for comfortable viewing, including balancing sound levels and tidying obvious interruptions. It preserves the conversation’s natural character, sequence and meaning.
It does not include extensive restructuring, a scripted narrative or the integration of photographs and home videos into a documentary. Those can be discussed as a separate project.
-
Yes. Photographs, letters and meaningful objects can provide useful prompts and help explain the story.
Using an item during the conversation is different from scanning it or editing it into the finished video. Any additional digitisation or production work is discussed and quoted separately.
-
That is normal. The recording preserves your recollections and perspective; it is not a test of your memory.
You can correct yourself, return to an earlier point or explain that you are unsure. Historical verification is not included in this package, but separate research can be discussed if it matters to your project.
-
Yes. You can pause, take a break, decline a question or move to another subject. Any topics you would prefer to avoid can be discussed privately during planning.
You remain in control of what you choose to share.

Yes. A recorded story can make a thoughtful gift for a birthday, anniversary, retirement or family occasion.
The person being recorded must understand the service and agree to participate. If the gift is a surprise, we can discuss how to introduce it before arranging the recording.
-
Your finished video is delivered privately as a downloadable digital file for you to keep, watch and share.
