Process

Don’t worry about having everything sorted

Many collections arrive loosely packed, partially organised, or with unknown formats and quantities. An educated guess is completely fine — part of the process is helping you work through what you have and determining the best approach from there.

Initial enquiries are obligation-free and intended to help you understand your options clearly before committing to any work.

  1. Get Your Estimate

Start by telling us what you have; media type and quantity— even an educated guess is completely fine. We’ll help clarify formats, quantities and the best approach from there.

  2. Intake

If needed, book a free 30-minute in person review session. We’ll assess your collection, recommend the best fit, formalise your quote, and confirm deposit before work begins. Longer sessions and guidance available at request.

  3. Careful Digitisation

Once safely in our care, your items are digitised and prepared according to the agreed scope, with a personal touch and professional equipment.

  4. Delivery & Return

Your digital files are delivered by download link, with optional physical storage media available as an add-on. Your originals are then returned by collection, local delivery, or courier.

How Your Originals Are Handled

Your photographs, tapes, documents and family materials are treated as irreplaceable originals, not bulk media.

Collections are reviewed before work begins, kept organised throughout digitisation, and returned using the agreed collection, delivery or courier method. Where items are fragile or unusual, handling is discussed before any work proceeds.

Breadcrumbs Archive is a South Australian archive studio which grew from helping my Grandpa preserve family photographs and memories while he lives with Alzheimer’s.

That experience shaped the studio’s approach: careful handling, clear communication and thoughtful preservation, without making the process feel overwhelming.

Every collection is handled personally by me—from assessment and planning through to digitisation, organised delivery and the return of your originals.

Whether it is a small group of items or an extensive family archive, the same care and attention apply.
